About the Open Access Workshop

As a part of MDPI’s 25th anniversary, it is our delight and pleasure to run an Open Access Workshop for students and faculty of Oxford Brookes University and the Oxford International Centre for Publishing.

In this two-part workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to establish and further their understanding in relation to Open Access, looking at the origins of the Open Access movement, how it compares to the traditional journal publishing model and the multiple varieties of Open Access which are used across the academic publishing ecosystem today. In addition, the features and benefits of Open Access will also be discussed, along with some of the current disadvantages of the model, and how national policy is driving Open Access forward.

In the second part of the workshop, we will offer an introduction to MDPI, detailing our history as a leader in open access publishing as we reach our 25-year anniversary. We’ll also offer insight into how publish in as timely and efficient a manner as possible, our partnerships with institutions and initiatives in the field we are working on to improve our services for researchers and scholars, as well as answer any questions or queries attendees might have.
